The last year started with a new horrific stage of the war that lasts at least 9 years. While active hostilities are still going on in the territory of Ukraine, we are touring with the exhibition RECORDS OF RESISTANCE dedicated to Ukrainian art practices during the war. The exhibition is a selection of works from BIRUCHIY residency 2022, Ukraine. The show includes pieces created during the invasion: paintings, drawings, installations, sculptures, photo and video documentation of events in Irpin, Bucha, Hostomel, Kyiv, Kharkiv, and other Ukrainian cities under attack. It also contains some pieces created earlier that survived occupation in Bucha where the storage of the residency was located. The works of artists become both witnesses and evidence of crimes as well as proof of resilience and strength. The BIRUCHIY residency has been taking place in the Zaporizhia region on the coast of the Azov Sea since 2006. Artists from all over Ukraine and abroad regularly participated in the project, making it a platform for unique interactions, and the exchange of experience and information. Since last year, the original location of the residency is in the occupied territory between Donbas and Crimea. Last summer the residency took place in the Zakarpattia region of Ukraine. Later it was shown in Warsaw, followed by further exhibitions in Oberhausen, Dusseldorf (Germany), and Eindhoven (Netherlands). Now the exhibition arrived in Belgium followed by public events with film screenings and discussions.

 

 

L'année dernière a commencé avec une nouvelle étape horrible de la guerre qui dure depuis au moins 9 ans. Alors que les hostilités actives se poursuivent sur le territoire de l'Ukraine, nous partons en tournée avec l'exposition RECORDS OF RESISTANCE consacrée aux pratiques artistiques ukrainiennes pendant la guerre. L'exposition est une sélection d'œuvres de la résidence BIRUCHIY 2022, en Ukraine. L'exposition comprend des pièces créées pendant l'invasion : peintures, dessins, installations, sculptures, documentation photo et vidéo des événements à Irpin, Bucha, Hostomel, Kyiv, Kharkiv, et d'autres villes ukrainiennes attaquées. Elle contient également des œuvres créées antérieurement qui ont survécu à l'occupation à Bucha, où se trouvait l'entrepôt de la résidence. Les œuvres des artistes deviennent à la fois des témoins et des preuves de crimes, mais aussi des preuves de résilience et de force. La résidence BIRUCHIY se déroule dans la région de Zaporizhia, sur la côte de la mer d'Azov, depuis 2006. Des artistes de toute l'Ukraine et de l'étranger participent régulièrement au projet, ce qui en fait une plateforme d'interactions uniques et d'échange d'expériences et d'informations. Depuis l'année dernière, la résidence se déroule dans le territoire occupé entre le Donbas et la Crimée. L'été dernier, la résidence a eu lieu dans la région de Zakarpattia en Ukraine. L'exposition a ensuite été présentée à Varsovie, puis à Oberhausen, Düsseldorf (Allemagne) et Eindhoven (Pays-Bas). L'exposition est maintenant arrivée en Belgique, suivie d'événements publics avec des projections de films et des discussions.

 

 

Минулий рік розпочався з нового жахливого етапу війни, який триває щонайменше 9 років. Поки на території України ще тривають активні бойові дії, ми подорожуємо з виставковим проєктом ЗАПИСИ ОПОРУ, що присвячений українським мистецьким практикам під час війни. Виставка є добіркою робіт резиденції BIRUCHIY 2022 року, яку було організовано в Україні. До експозиції увійшли роботи створені під час вторгнення: живопис, графіка, інсталяції, скульптури, фото- та відеодокументація подій в Ірпіні, Бучі, Гостомелі, Києві, Харкові та інших містах України що постраждали віддій окупантів. Також, до експозиції додались мистецькі твори довоєнного часу, що збереглися під час окупації в Бучі, де знаходився склад резиденції. Роботи митців стають і свідками і доказами злочинів, одночасно доказами стійкості та сили. Резиденція BIRUCHIY проходить у Запорізькій області на узбережжі Азовського моря з 2006 року. У проєкті постійно беруть участь митці з усієї України та з-за кордону, що робить його майданчиком для унікальної взаємодії, обміну досвідом та інформацією. З минулого року базова локація резиденції знаходиться на окупованій території між Донбасом і Кримом. Минулого літа резиденція проходила в Закарпатській області України. Пізніше, його показали у Варшаві, а потім відбулися виставки в Обергаузені, Дюссельдорфі (Німеччина) та Ейндховені (Нідерланди). Тепер виставковий проєкт прибув до Бельгії, де відбудуться публічні заходи з кінопоказами та дискусіями.
